They were making this offer back a couple of months ago. Call and ask, can't hurt. 0% for a year, also.
Okay, AMEX simply asked how large of an increase I wanted. I asked to double it. They reviewed my app since it was within the past 30 days and approved; this took about 30 seconds. I didn't have to perform a BT to acquire the increase. They also indicated that I had a 0% on purch for six months.

Do you have a 5.99% non-promotional purchase rate from Citibank? If so, that's impressive. I haven't seen anything that low from American Express for non-promotional purchases. But, Breeze is right, give them a call periodically to see what BT offers they have for you. If you are interested in an AmEx balance transfer, there is a 3.9% or 4.9% BT offer for the life of the transfer, that will raise your credit limit dollar for dollar of what you transfer. You should call 1-800-535-7790 (I got this number from a poster named "Czar" at www.creditboards.com).
Re: Re: Re: AMEX CLI with BT on New Accts? Marci - thanks for the info. With Citi I have P+1.74 non-promo purchase rate. So as long as I don't send my pymts late I get to keep that. It's a great rate and I've always been happy with Citi. I'll have to see what I can get out of Amex.
