Due to financial difficulties Ive been late on payment and Amex closed my Gold, reen and Blue accts. I know this is serious, but is it ever possible to get another Amex? Any recourse?
In 1995 Amex closed my Green, Optima and Small Business Corporate accounts. I was able to get a new Green card last November. Although Amex closed the accounts, I paid them all in full within a few monts of their closing -- they were not charged off.
Thats promising news. Even if I have to wait, its nice to know that they will coansider re-issuing. Do you think you had to wait that long? Or could you have gotten it sooner?
Well, while I paid the Amex accounts (really because their collectors were the most agressive) there were lots of other accounts I had at the time that I did *not* repay, so I pretty much trashed my credit. I don't think I had to wait so long because they had closed the prior accounts, I think I had to wait until I was able to get my credit back in order. I think I did not end up on their blacklist because I paid the accounts, but I did have to requalify credit-wise to open new accounts.
They may waive the interest accrued, but you can only re-qualify once the old Amex accounts are paid off. If the accounts are charged off, they'd tell you that to pay them off you need to contct collection agency XYZ. IGNORE IT. Keep making payments directly to Amex, using your old account number. Then call Amex credit bureau unit and ask them to remove the negative tradeline. If it's paid off, they would. Never ever agree to communicate with the collection agency they give your account to. If the CA contacts you, send them a "Cease and Desist" letter. Saar
I can understand them closing the Green and Gold right away (since there is no pre set spending on them) but close the Blue too? Where you late on all accounts or just one and it caused a domino effect? Take Saar's advice. Work with them so your credit doesn't end up trashed!
