Back in 2000, I racked up some personal charges on the AMEX account of my employer (yes, it's shameful, and yes I felt the shame). I have since, however, settled up with their CA (United Resource Systems). The company (the OC) initially referred the account to the CA containing charges that were actually business-related. After disputing those charges, the CA promptly adjusted the balance. There was interest tacked on to the balance at 12%. As it turns out, this interest was assessed on the debt amount prior to adjustment. Since this was a known debt, I didn't see a need for validation. But upon reflection, I should have gotten validation to prove how much interest was my responsibility--if any. The company paid the bill. The question is, what did they actually pay (to be answered by the CA), but more importantly, do I owe them anything above and beyond that amount if the initial CC agreement doesn't say so? Thanks in advance.
Perhaps I misunderstand. If the card is an Amex card how can your employer be the OC? Second; if the card is a company card how can a CA contact you regarding a payment that was made by your company? Are you saying that your credit has been affected by this?
The card was an AMEX Corporate Card (for employees of the company). Before I left the company, I charged some personal travel expenses. I was unable to immediately repay. They (my former company) ended up paying the charges to AMEX. After they (my former company) paid AMEX, they contacted a CA to collect on what they paid (and what I owed). Thing is, my former company most likely paid this right away so as not to incur late charges. The CA contends that there was interest accruing on the unpaid balance. But as far as I can tell, AMEX doesn't charge 12% interest. The CA represented to me that AMEX the credit card agreement called for 12%, but after reading my current AMEX Corporate Card Agreement (yes, I have another one but I've learned my lesson) there's no such provision for this kind of interest. Only late fees--and not anywhere near 12%.
