Amex Declined me ! Equifax reported to them I have a collection with a local hospital! Funny thing is I've never heard of this before, neither has Equifax. ( I called them.) With a score of 719 I better not have a damn collection! I called the hospital and left a nasty message on their machine as well. Anyways American Express says I have a very good chance of getting this student card if I fax them a updated version of my credit report, not showing any collection. She said the only reason I was denied was because I had a collection reported and the positive tradeline I have wasnt enough to outweigh the collection. Does that sound right ? Man I want this Amex! Anyhow I printed out my report from creditwatch and am going to fax it to them. Should I fax them my whole report ? When I print it from EQ it shows A LOT of inquires, well the "equifax consumer services." (bumpage) That's not a hard so they shouldnt consider that. Please help asap, gotta run to get this faxed tonight before the place im going to have fax it closes...Thanks!
I went on and faxed the whole report to them. Equifax sound like they were lost on the phone. Said she didnt see a collection or where they could have came from. Well Amex just wouldn't make that up ! The rep really sounded like I'd get the card if I didnt have a collection (which I don't) we shall see!
<bump> Wish me luck guys! I hope I get this card! The Amex Rep said that I should probably call back Friday well I am gonna try tomorrow...lol
Well she checked the application and the fax hasn't been noted. She said that they probably have it , but just havnt had enough time to review it. She said it usually takes about 3-5 days.
Called back today - They received my fax and the application has been sent to "median team" or something like that ? First time I heard of that. I think she said median. She said from that it'll be 1-2 weeks. I asked since the collection is removed which wasnt mine what do you think my chances of approval are. She said." they look at everything from debt ratios to inquires, the whole picture, and since I dont have that information in front of me I can't made a judgement." The other reps I got before was much more positive, LOL. PS - The automated system now says "we received your application for the personal card on Aug 31st, and is currently being processed. You should receive a response in 5 days." Before it told me I was denied, man I dont wanna hear that message again!
