Took the eight friends to dinner tonight! You all will love this! Look at the 8 people: Dog, date (female this time), sister, brother-in-law, 2 couples. Table lovely. Fresh seafood. Wine BOOK! Water view 3 sides. Private loft table. Conversation was great, people charming, sister and brother-in-law totally nice. There were prices on the menu but one chick had the wine list. Dogman didn't have a frickin clue what or how much the selected bottle was. (I quickly jammed down a Stoly. Glad dinner wasn't on a Cap One $200 Visa card!) The dinner total came out to $480.00 - not bad at all, literally half of what I expected. I added the tip - 20%. Pulled out the Amex Card - yup, they all watched - particularly brother-in-law - and handed to our skilled waiter. He thanked me very much, signed, and left. Everyone had a great time - except me tomorrow having to work early This is exactly why AMEX is worth the fee. Flexibility. Sure, gotta pay it in 30 days. BUT, if they had selected a $1000 vintage bottle of wine, AMEX could have paid for my ambulance ride to the hospital after my heart attack! Dogman
20% tip - you're awesome Dog! (I've worked as a waiter). I hope that Amex will allow me back into their graces one day. chet
Sounds like a delightful evening. I work at a restaurant, and love to see people have a good time. San Francisco can be great for that type of thing, but also very expensive. I would guess my odds of moving back to the Bay Area are roughly equal to my odds of obtaining an American Express Gold Card, and then paying it off every month.
Glad your dinner went so well, you must have felt so darn good pulling out that card!! One question though, who was your date last time??????
