How is it that I can get approved for a amex gold charge card and not for a BofA platinum visa even though BofA has been making me off of me and my money for a while now? Update on the BofA thing, I haven't recieved anything from my PFB, but I did call again and ask a supervisor to look my app over, she said one has, it had been reviewed twice and their decision stands,I said even though I have a prima checking account, savings account, and loan? yep, she says. Oh well, amex has treated me way better anyways. I got amex preferred gold rewards, 1st year FREE, and in the 2nd yr I will probably call retention and ask them to credit me some amount 30-60$ but even if they don't I will keep it. I am happy now. Also I am calling right now to have my starwood card transferred to a standard optima platinum and will call retention in a couple weeks and ask them to drop the apr to prime +3.99. So they raised my credit limit X5(well almost) from $2,000 to $9350 and approved me for their gold card! Now that is customer service! I'm with dogman now, AMEX forever!!!!!!

I have all I need now, I am not even worried about them. The amex gold works out better than starwood for me because of the ALWAYS double pts for everyday purchases(which transfer 1 to 1, instead of 2 to 1 from rewards green), they always throw out double pts promos and starwood (almost)never does double pts promos, it has BVG, and they send out flyers for deals on hotels all the time, and I go to a lot of concerts that get sold out quick and with this card you get presale before everybody else. So, IMO worth the 130 a year. I will just pay it with all of the change I put in my change jar that I use for nothing anyways:)

SO MAYBE I WILL GET MY BLUE AT 7.99%???

They WON'T tell me---->"SORRY WE DON'T HAVE THAT RATE FOR YOUR CARD NUMBER"

CAN I GET A NEW CARD NUMBER THAT WILL QUALIFY???

"IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY"

...or "WE DON'T HAVE THAT RATE AVAILABLE"...but my buddy has that rate..."OH, HE MUST BE MISTAKEN"

yup I think I am as excited about my gold as you are about your platinum! The fee (130$) is a lot for a 21 yr old but the liquidity of a no pre-set spendig limit, the BVG, the gold events(they can get me tickets for my sold out concerts), and just having an amex gold, I feel like I have arrived. Also since it gives, double pts for everyday stuff, and they send out the great offers for hotels(especially in vegas), and they have double pts offers sent out in the mail all the time, it is worth it to me! Also from what I understand if you call retention amex will give you from 30$ on as a waiver to keep the card:) Maybe I will be able to swing that, but even if not I will gladly keep the card:)

Oh and DaveLV congrats on your platinum!
