Got pre-approval in the mail for amex gold rewards card. Just wondering if it is worth the $90 annual fee. And for anyone that has this card, are the rewards really that good? Also, is this pre-approval just like the others? Thanks. Will apply tonight if I get good responses.
I don't think it's worth the $90 fee because you get MR Options points for most purchases. You can get these points for no fee if you have Blue. With Gold Rewards you can get double points for certain purchases, access to Gold card events, and Best Value Guarantee, but I don't think it's worth paying $90/yr, but that's just my opinion.
Membership Rewards Options points are exchanged 2 for 1 for airline miles, while the regular Membership Rewards points transfer 1 to 1. Something to watch out for if you use your points for air miles.
