Well, I hit the fabulous one yr anniversary with the Green Card as we know.

I was testing the customer service site at their site.
They have added a menu where you can ask:

Will my card be approved or why was I declined.
I thought I have paid great for a yr now - I'll test the no pre-set limit.

I clicked in $10200 for air/hotel/car/meals on a fictional July date. I clicked and waited a few seconds.

It said I would be approved with no problem as long as kept my current account status. It did say I may be asked for ID by the merchant at time of purchase for verification.

I am durned happy. From Chap 13 to an AMEX Green where I can snap $10200 with a click - in less than 4 years. Of course I have to pay it all - but I have earned this - and I bet AMEX offers me an upgrade soon.
Hell, this is REAL FLEXIBILITY for a $55 annual fee.
Yes add $45 for Membership Rewards - a MUST because their gifts are great.

The AMEX Personal Card. That's a real nice ego boost knowing that my Green Card can cover me without question for nearly anything I decide to do.
It also reminds me that American Express is the premium card company.

I could trade the MAX for the Honda S2000 and put the difference on the Card!

YE HA - ARF - climbing that rope to prime - ARF!
Oh yeah, can hardly wait to get that Cobalt Card.

    AMEX Approved $15,500!

AMENDMENT: AMEX Future Spending - NOW I tried snapping in another fictional amount - $15,500 - and it said FINE!!!!!!!! YE HAW!!!!! ARF ARF !!!!

Last night late, I snapped in $15,500, for air/travel/car/hotel - it approved me in 5 seconds!
I t said I might be asked for ID at an individual
    merchant.

I bet that person that got the AMEX Platinum Card SHOULD tap in $25000 to $50K and see if it approves it. They are serious about using payment history, personal resources, and income in establishing your spending patterns - and ultimately how much a typical charge would be for you and what sorts of things are typical for you. That's why they would snap me $15,500 !! :) :) :)

They are a really GREAT company!
I am now off to Kabuki Hot Spring for a bath and massage. I will use either Green or Cobalt!
BUT - I think I will use Green! I love the points.

$15,500 - yup - that is comforting to know, that is the power and flexibility to not worry "Anytime you leave home." !!!

GOTTA love what $55 buys a year!

Wonderful Card benefits, total freedom to come and go anywhere in the world - prestige and reliability and - jeez - I LOVE knowing if my butt got into some kind of emergency - OR - if I was going to finance a car - 30 days later - I like having $15.5 ready and preapproved.

AMEX also knows that I am reliable and responsible enough that IF I did ever charge $15K in just one purchase - that I would definitely have it preplanned and covered.

They are a pleasure to deal with.

I bet its kewl when the Centurion Black Cardmember types in a future spending purchase ......EX???:
what about Mr. Trump typing in $6 billion for
Trump Tower? Does he get the same message I got for $15.5? That his purchase is approved but the merchant might ask for ID?

Does he have to show his driver's license every time he builds another new billion dollar casino?

    Hmmmmm.........

When I used to have Amex cards, their account agreement specifically forbade the purchase of an automobile. I don't know if they've since changed their policy.

PEOPLE BUY CARS ALL THE TIME USING CREDIT CARDS...The car dealer MAY not want to pay the FEE on the purchase...so he may say NO...but if you WALK to somewhere else, they may do it for you.

It is kind of a DOUBLE STANDARD...if you rent a car of have a car repaired at the dealership, they are willing to take your card for ANY amount.

Dave - I could check - but I read that Cardmember Agreemtn from cover to cover and do not recall anything about NOT being able to buy a car.

BUT - I can read it again... :( dogman

A family member worked for AmEx in the approval dept. You certainly could buy a automobile on your card. He once approved someone for I think a $90,000 custom made Mercedes.

I'm trying to decide what would make me happy enough and excited enough to trade in the Maxima.
    Its in mint condition.

BUT - that Honda S2000 Roadster would be worth the 32K price. BMW - everybody in SF has a 3 or 5 series / Audi TT ? - kewl but no where near the performance and resale value of the Honda.

    I had a 91 Integra - bought new for $11900 - sold
for the MAX 4 years later for $10K.

I would like to run it through AMEX - my credit reports would show high charge on my AMEX on all the reports. It would be quite nice!

Hey dog, what year is your Maxima? I have a 97 model and I really like its performance so far as well as its fuel economy (27 mpg isn't bad for a V6). I'm planning to go for the AMEX Platinum charge soon after my recent inquiries fall off.

    Re: AMEX Approved $15,500!

Mine is 1995 - first one in SF of the last body style.
Ordered Green w/tan leather - power everything. The BOSE is still incredible - and the performance has been trouble free- I do have sunroof - put
Goodyear Eagles on it about a yr ago - the ride a bit smoother - noticeably - and hang well on the turns.
Stickered in Oct 1994 for $27K.

Its a great product - but I have not traded for the 2000 body style - Its $10 and a couple plus my card - for really no huge tecnological improvements.

beeping my way to the next message - dogman
