I recently applied for the Amex Blue and was turned down - they searched EQ, which at the time had a FICO of 667.

After leanring through posts on this site that this could be difficult to obtain, I lowered my sights and applied for the Green Rewards card Saturday and was declined again. Also check EQ, with score this time of 719..!

I have three years credit history, no derogs at all, and two prime cards with good limits and only 18% credit utilization - what more can I do???

What were the reasons for the decline?

    AMEX CHECK STATIS

You eventually should be able to get to press O (ZERO) for customer service (NEW ACCOUNTS)

Maybe it was the length on your credit history and your 2 bank cards may not have been established long enough. Tell those FREAKS to give you the card. I just got a green and gold from them , but my history is about 13-14 years with 30+ tradelines.

I have amex gold and green cash 9400cl and I am only 21, so it should in NO WAY be because of short history. Call the number George posted for reconsideration.

    • Wow ... are you sure you are not an AU on someone else's card?

How recent was the Blue application? I think they require 60 days since the last inquiry.

    ero2,

That AU account actually gives you a long history. That's why your scores are so high.

I was an AU on an account on my parents discover but they were about 80% utilized when I applied, so I was 80% utilized. Rich Guy is correct, I can HUGELY thank my Parents for my fairly high scores, so see if you can get added as an AU on someone's account. (I always forget that my parents 18 yr history is my 18 yr history:) (sorry)

also, I applied for starwood, gold, blue, green, all within probably 45 days of each other, and starwood, green, and gold within 15 days of each other, and I already had 8 INQs, so maybe I was just lucky, who knows:)

I did, but cancelled the green within a month of opening it. I have a habit of that, eh Richguy :) I got green and cancelled it, then heard they were offering first annual fee year waived and went for it and got gold, and will try calling at the end of the year to get the fee reduced like willgator says he does every year and if not, I will transfer my miles to SW and cancel.
