Seems like the balance transfer options these 2 cards offer aren't discussed a lot. All things considered, the Blue is better than both. But if you're mainly interested in balance transfer benefits, you may appreciate this: The Optima card offers a fixed 7.9% APR for the first 6 months of the balance; Thre Optima Platinum offers a fixed 8.9% for the LIFE of the balance. If you have any of Amex' lending products (not charge cards) and you pay over a long period of time, you're usually better off transfering your balance to another card, and then back to Optima or Optima Platinum: The balance transfer interest rate is better than these cards' normal APR. Please remember that the above refers to post-introductory APR's. Saar
RE: Amex: Optima and Optima Pl After first six months, you cann't transfer balance to Amex cash rebate card.
RE: Amex: Optima and Optima Pl When I began to use my optima card (june2000) the introductory rate was 5.9 % for 6 months, there was not mention about balance transfer. Probably I had to ask about!
