Just applied for AMEX Blue. They pulled all 3 reports. Denied. Reason: Too many collection accts. All paid, all in dispute, all medical except for one phone acct for $70 unpaid. In a nutshell: paid or unpaid collection doesnt matter, medical or non-medical doesnt' matter. Collections are collectionsTU score 695, EX- 541, EQ 600's.
Sorry, anesthesia. Usually Amex only pulls one inquiry. You may want to contact Amex's retention department and ask to be reconsidered. Have a Happy New Year. Dani
-this is good to know I am shooting for the big blue in about 3 months. I have 3 CAs on all 3 CRAs. No sense in wasitng an inquiry just yet. Has anyone gotten AMEX blue with paid collections on the CRA?
I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, Sub4Prime, but I was turned down for Amex Blue with no derogs. Knowing this, I would think it would be the same for someone with paid collections, but who knows? The whole system can seem arbitrary at times, so maybe you'll get lucky!
Yea they only pulled ONE for me (Equifax don't you know). But be warned...when you ask for reconsideration they pull ANOTHER HARD INQUIRY. I asked for recon and found two hard inquiries from the date I applied and the date I asked for reconsideration, so do not ask unless you are prepared for another inq hit. -Peace, Dave
definitely try the delta gold skymiles card. I got that with a 650 score and a paid collection on file. They are more lenient than blue.
Beaker I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, Sub4Prime, but I was turned down for Amex Blue with no derogs. Knowing this, I would think it would be the same for someone with paid collections, but who knows? The whole system can seem arbitrary at times, so maybe you'll get lucky! No doubt Beaker I have no intention of apply for blue until I wipe these derogs out of my life. From my own personal experience credit is a game. I was playing quite well without evening knowing the rules PRE-DIVORCE Now that I am learning more about the in's and out's of credit. I can use it as a tool. To think I once thought all of this was just about paying your bills on time. There is so much to credit it can boggle the mind. Now I understand how my little sister has a 20k limit on her card while just a senior in college with no job. She used it to the max every month and paid it off for 6 months in a row paying tution and stuff mom gave her the money then left it at a zero balance thereafter every 6 months they doubled her cl! it took 3 years. Thanks to the infomation on this board I now understand how these things work.
equifax in georgia. Single report, 650 score with a paid collection and a charge off in dispute. Instant approval, one of my few this year... I was thoroughly shocked. I switched my product to the platinum optima immediately. Which gave me: 3.9% for 6 months on everything. prime+4% GOTO rate. Just about every thing that blue gives except the free member rewards and the cool card/smartchip look.
.....and which score is that 650? TU? EXP? EXQ? THANKS! My highest score is EXQ@608 next month it will be much higher.
In my dealings with AMEX...I have found that if you want to get your foot in the door, apply for any Optima (revolving) product except for Blue (don't know why...but it's hard to get blue for some reason). I have been told by several reps that they would also rather give a person a low limit Optima product than ANY of their charge cards. I never hear of them pulling all three reports....that's odd.
They pulled 2 of 3 for me. I applied for Blue for Students before I found this board last year. I think Equifax and Experian. I had collections on both. I think what they do is see if one report is better than the others if the first one they pull isn't up to par.
I asked for reconsiders on my PLatinum cash back card, they didn't pull anything; so this is kind of confusing. Herman
