I recently applied for the AMEX Delta Skymiles card and was denied. I asked that a supervisor review my application for a reconsideration and was told to call back in a couple of days. A few days pass, I call and am disappointed twice on the same application, they had decided to stand behind their original decision and that once it has been reviewed for reconsideration I cannot ask to have that application reviewed again and need to wait 3 months before reapplying. I was told that my "internal" score was a 652 and the card requires a 680. My questions are; Has anybody here received this card with a score in this area? Are there any AMEX products I may qualify for with this score? Is it true that this current application is dead now or is there some other way of possibly having it approved still? (unless of course this score is completely out of their league) -Om
I have no derogs, no nothing...just a limited credit file.....i had a 638 (transunion) amex pulled for BLUE...and i was approved 2k 10.99%....called after 6months and demanded 3k more...they said sure... i really dont think FICO scores means everything to ALL CC companys.....so far its been true for me..hope it stays that way... Om, I don't see why Amex denied you, perhaps your report shows recent collection or lates. Sorry, I have heard member approved with 650. (borderline) Best regards, Herman
652 was what they called their "internal" score, not fico. Although my actual score is not much higher. -Om
Tony, I also have a very short credit history. How "limited" was your credit file? What is your oldest tradeline? I thought amex blue had some policy about having a tradeline at least 1 or 2 years old.. -Roman
I have a limited credit file....Before 2/99 CRA's had nothing on me.... 2/99 Providian Classic $1400 cl 10/00 Citibank Plat Select $6,500 cl 11/00 Chase Gold $5,000 cl 1/01 Amex Blue $5,000 cl 8/01 Mbna Plat Plus $5,500 Amex Blue pulled only Transunion for me and I am in Ca....... I know some have said AMEX likes you to have at least 2 tradelines open for 2 years....I did not.... Tony Verrengino San Diego, CA
