With clean credit and a high fico, decided to try for Blue Cash. Came back denied, so when I called, they stated that I had a previous account with a balance.

Can't blame them really, for my past mistakes. Just thought I'd let others know, that AMEX remembers!

    How far back is this?

Keep in mind the FCRA limit of 7 years only applies to what is in your CRA file. Lenders can look in their own files back to the Creation, and I have heard Amex has a corporate memory almost that long - at least to the Inquisition.

Yeah, AMEX does have a blacklist (no time limit).

Did you try to see if they will accept payment in full and than remove you from the blacklist?

    Best regards,
    Mirage

Amex does have a long memory. They were included in my CH7 10-1/2 years ago. I did the voluntary repayment of the accounts and still have had no luck getting off of their blacklists. Anytime I apply, I get the response "Denied, previous account not paid as agreed."
