I've never even thought of applying for an AMEX, but have been reading up on it. There are so many cards, I don't know the difference between them. I'm looking for a card that doesn't report to the CRA's so I can BT all mine into one, hidden away. LOL My scores are in the high 600's (695 EQ)to low 700's (fakko TU 717) Which would be a good card for me? I have 1 derog on EQ (I'm going to dispute this week) and one on EXP, none on TU.

Thanks for any advice. I have no idea what's the difference between the cards!

As far as I know, the only AMEX cards that don't report are the Business ones.

All of our personal cards report to all 3 CRAs. We have 7 total AMEX accounts now between us and the rule applies to all.

You should go to their site and read about the cards. They have a page that lists all their cards and if you click on each card, it will give you the particulars for that card.

They have pulled equifax for me every time I have applied. The first time, I had 0 negatives, but my student loans were reporting as revolving loc's, so they denied me due to having them maxed out?? I disputed them, got them corrected, my score went up about 40 pts, and then next time I was approved.

I can tell you they want at least 2 cards, 3 years old with a perfect pay history. They don't like a lot of inq's. You might want to wait til you get the last derog off, but I don't know if that will automatically cause a denial.

The green card is by far the easiest to get per several Amex reps, but it must be paid in full each month. As for the revolving cards, I was told, but don't know for sure, that they Delta skymiles cards are the easiest in that category.

I got my Gold Delta in May and it still isn't reporting on any cra.

How long did it take for your personal cards to report. As I stated above, my Delta from May and my Optima from August are still not reporting.

The longest was our Optima, it took about 2 months. But all of the others reported within a month or so.

They are NOT as good about updating though. One of the charge cards still shows a high balance of about 4K, when the real high balance should be over 17K. Another has only reported once. The first month. That was it.

My Amex experience was completely different. They pulled Experian on me for both cards, a Green and a Starwood, and my oldest credit card was a month old Discover. I do have a student loan showing a 13 year payment history, but my scores were mediocre, around 720, and I had two brand new cards at the time. In retrospect, given other people's experience, I'm surprised I got approved. Maybe I hit them at the right time. I've had my Green since August, and my Starwood since the beginning of September, and neither has reported yet. I read somewhere, though, that Amex takes their sweet time to get around to reporting.

If you want a card that doesn't report to the CRAs, I believe Generations Bank doesn't report, although they are extremely strict about qualifying.
