I've been a faithful AMEX green customer since last year and coming up on my renewal date. I've paid all my bills every month on time since then. I'd like to upgrade to a card that doesnt require a pay-off every month like this one does. Does anyone know if AMEX looks at your history of past accounts or a score to get an upgrade card??
No upgrades from a charge card to a credit card - you'll have to apply. They'll definitely consider your history w/ them. IMO, their best cards are: 1. Best in general CC category: Blue. 2. Best card for revolving balance & for making balance transfers (BT's): "Optima Platinum 9.9%". It offers a fixed 9.9% (purchase) and a fixed 8.9% (BT's). Be sure to say you apply for the 9.9% card, since Optima Platinum is a whole series of products. 3. Best rewards card: Amex Starwood (the Sheraton/ Westin hotel network).
