amex secured card????

    Does anyone know if amex offers a secured card? If so, are they hard to get. I recently got visa and mc from first premier and I am thinking amex would be a good addition for me to build on. thanks for any help.

    Actually they do since I currently have one.

    It's for the Optima Card through AMEX

    They do not accept any NEW applications...and they did not "PULL" the cards.

    I got an invitation to apply for the Optima secured card a couple of years ago... The mailer said to send them a check for $300 and it would be a sure thing.

    About three weeks later I got a check from American Express Centurion Bank for $300 and a letter telling me they couldn't open the account because I have a tax lien on my reports.

    THAT IS AMAZING...A $300 CREDIT LINE SECURED BY $300 AND YOU DON'T QUALIFY???


    Somebody didn't qualify for a CD sucured loan at their bank for a bad mark on their credit report...


    CLUELESS PEOPLE.

    We were told they were not available any more...months ago.

    sheila, do you know if the secured optima card is reporting? I have read posts on this board that it doesn't report. Also, any other deatails would be wonderful. I was just told by amex last week that they stopped the securerd cards in July of 2000. So any new news is great. thanks
