Any experiences with approvals? I have one PAID collection for $62 on my Equifax ... but it is still showing up under collections catagory. The rest of my report is perfect all pay as agreed and NO late pays. Should I apply for AMEX?... I would hate to waste an inquiry. What do ya think? leencaci
I want to tell you to go for it, because AMEX is one of my goals. I also don't want any of the credit if you are declined (no pun intended LOL ;-) But seriously, someone just posted that AMEX rejected them for a collection showing on their report, so I am wondering if since yours is paid, would that make a difference? I forgot to add, they faxed a clean copy of their report to them, and they are waiting to see if they got approved. I wish you luck though.........
It is an "IFFY" (WITH A PAID COLLECTION) ME... DENIED "PRE-APPROVED" AMEX PLAT CASH BACK DENIED "PRE-APPROVED" AMEX GOLD DELTA (TWICE)---->STRIKE 3 BETTER NOT HAPPEN!!! AMEX BLUE $15.500 STUCK FOR 3 YEARS NEVER A "BADDIE"... ***BUT THEN I DO HAVE THE "GEORGE FACTOR" TO DEAL WITH***
Thanks for the input..... I don't know if this will matter or not but my FICO is 699. Yea it feels iffy (as George put it)... I am just having a hard time giving up that inquiry on an IFFY feeling. Even with FICO 699 Leencaci
Amex approval is heavily dependent on payment history. If you apply go for the GREEN or the BLUE, Green is easier to get.
MY HISTORY... 685-714 F.I.C.O. NEVER A "BADDIE" 24+ YEARS AMEX---->TWO APPROVALS---->5 DENIALS (MAYBE 6)...
That Stinks George maybe one day they will follow through with there so-called pre-approvals. I have the Blue also 12,500 Limit(9.9%) that hasnt budged in 3 years. They must not care about their more established cardholders.
How old is your paid collection? I was approved for the gold delta skymiles card with a 686 on equifax, but I had no derogs. Also keep in mind, that they told me they want to see 3 accts at least 2 years old. The green is the easiest, but from everything I have learned the skymiles cards are easier than Blue to get.
It is 6 years & 2 mo old.... Date of last activity 7/1996.... I have 10 months till it should (and I say SHOULD) be deleted from my report.
If you dispute it in January or Feb as obsolete, the cra's most likely will just delete it. They delete derogs about 3 months prior to the 7 year mark anyway. Anyway, it's pretty old, so maybe it won't factor into a decision. Don't really know what to tell you. If you don't have a lot of inquiries, then give it a shot.
I was the one that was declined because of the collection. The thing is , I dont have a collection! I called the hospital, CA, and Equifax today and all of them say I dont have one. However my father, whos name is very similar does. I faxed Amex a copy of MY report showing that I do not have a collection and they are reconsidering. Waiting for them to do that now. But yes with that collection showing they denied the application. They said I didn't have enough positive history to outweigh the collecting and that was the reason for denial, hoping that since I proved I dont have a collection that they approve ! :O)
similar thing here...no CA activity within the past 2 years and major derogs like c/o in the past 3 years allowed according to the phone rep. I'm faxing my EQ as soon as the CA account gets deleted--which *should* happen soon because they sent me a letter saying they were having EQ and TU delete their entries.

Letter from the CA via OC confirming they notified EQ and TU of their deletion order.
