Those guys are tough I've managed to read and learn alot on this forum and I thank you all. But AMEX aint playin' I have a CO with them and did send a FCBA and received a letter and all I received from them was a Date opened, Present Card Balance and Card status of Charge off its the only negative TL I have left, thanks to you guys I was able to erase 13 negatives This account has a balance of $799.00, I can pay this no problem. Does anybody know if AMEX will accept full payment for deletion? Hell, I am willing to even throw in a couple hundred bones and make it $1,000 Thing is I dont want to admit to this being my account. Have I come to the end of the alley? Is my only option left with AMEX is to settle? If so, anyone have any luck with therm? I tried disputimg with the CRA's 5 times and everytime it has come back verified 1 more to go for a clean slate ! Anyone? Thanks!
AMEX is tough to deal with. I also have a CO with them from early '97 for just over $2k. I've offered to pay them in FULL for deletion, but they just won't budge. Makes no sense in today's economy. I've decided instead to just let this one fall off, which it will in a few short months. It's my last neg, too. As a matter of principle (and also to get a new card from them someday), I will pay them - AFTER the CO falls off my report. If anyone has any tips about how to deal with them, I'd sure like to know!
FYI - had about a $1300 CO with them from 1986. For some reason it didn't block me from getting 3 personal accounts with them in 2002 & 2003. But when I applied for a biz account with them, up it popped. I had to talk to a blue million AMEX reps till they finally sent me to the Dead Reserve Dept. which had my ancient account. I asked how much it was, mailed them a check the same day and was approved for the biz card about 2 weeks later. Thought that was the end of it. Felt good to have taken care of an old, but quite legitimate obligation. A few days later a new tradeline appeared. An 18 year old tradeline - marked paid as agreed, closed by grantor. My scores went up around 15 points each. It's my oldest tradeline by about 5 years. Of course, there is no guarantee this would happen in every case, but if the CO is over 7 years old, it might. Needless to say, I was quite pleased with this totally unexpected result of doing right. FWIW. DemPooches
