I did BT'S into AMEX BLUE and then BT'D it out (THEY WERE THE MIDDLEMAN)...FREE BT'S...(THE LAST 7 WERE DENIED)...

AFTER REVIEWING YOUR ACCOUNT WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CREDIT BALANCE WAS CREATED BY BALANCE TRANSFER CHECKS AND UNNECESSARY PAYMENTS APPLIED TO AN ACCOUNT WAITH A LOW BALANCE. THIS IS AN INAPPROPORIATE USE...NORECOURSE BUT TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT FOR IMPROPER USE.

IT IS IN THE SOCK DRAWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DARE THEM TO CLOSE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't BTing a BT be like paying off the original BT? Or am I misunderstanding?

I GOT MY CREDIT BALANCE IT'S GOING IN THE BANK TODAY...

IT'S BEHIND ALL THE SOCKS IN THE SOCK DRAWER...NOT IN THE FRONT!!!

I MIGHT PRODUCT TRANSFER TO THE DELTA GOLD...BUT THAT WOULD GIVE THEM $85.00 THEY DON'T DESERVE FOR THREATENING ME!!! Or I will just keep it in the sock drawer...(expires 10/04...I will use it for $3.00 for the gas can on 08/01/04)...

My luck...they won't do it...THEY WOULD MAKE ME RE-APPLY!!! (HARD!!!)

Of course, the companies are realizing that. Its tough to do it today. I havent done so, in 4 years.

I have BT'S expiring all the time...

DISCOVERCARD gave me 1.90% so I had to have a $0.00 on DISCOVERCARD...I paid it off with AMEX...I only owed say $3,000...then I had to BT the $17,500 @ 1.90% somewhere...so it went to AMEX...I paid off some other cards with it...BUT I still had a CREDIT BALANCE...LONG STORY SHORT...I WAS DENIED ALL 7 BT'S AFTER MY FIRST 9...I guess you can do 9 BT'S in 90 days...WHO KNEW???

I will NOT use AMEX again FOR A LONG TIME unless I get the DELTA GOLD...

AMEX has always been sensitive to any action that they view as turning a non-cash item into cash. I've heard that they will flag a transaction such as a return credit on an AMEX card when the item was not originally purchased on the AMEX account. The idea is to prevent people from returning "merchandise" and getting a refund of a resulting credit balance on an AMEX card.

Even though this situation is not exactly the same, because to them a BT from another company is basically cash, so it's cash in cash out, from the standpoint of the account holder they probably view it as the conversion of debt into cash.

Is there a clause in the AMEX cardholder agreement that prohibits specific types of BT activity? If not you could appeal to misunderstanding and ask that the account be reopened, especially as you've been a good customer.

BT's, teaser and promo rates are funny things, because they all want you to take advantage of them only once, and they get upset if you round-robin them (if they don't actively close your account, the punishment is a score-lowering "too many inquiries.")

In my Amex terms and conditions there is no # of times that one can BT in and BT out from an account. Amex is probably just ticked off because George was not paying them anything to transfer his debt around. They seem to be catching on to this more and more. It will probably come to the day, where you can only BT to a company once...anything to rob us of finding any loopholes in the system. :(

George, I do this a bit, but what were you transferring to do 9 BTs in 90 days? Did all your promotions end at once? Also, I want to know how you got 0% for BT transfers through Amex? ;)

AFTER REVIEWING YOUR ACCOUNT WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CREDIT BALANCE WAS CREATED BY BALANCE TRANSFER CHECKS AND UNNECESSARY PAYMENTS APPLIED TO AN ACCOUNT WITH A LOW BALANCE. THIS IS AN INAPPROPORIATE USE OF YOUR CARD ACCOUNT AND NOT CONFORMING TO THE CARDMEMBER AGREEMENT. IF THIS PROCESS PERSISTS WE WILL HAVE NORECOURSE BUT TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT FOR IMPROPER USE.

I guess I should of NOT left that part out...

Makes sense. I'm kind of tired of typing words too, so decode this:

    you...think...we...can...read...minds

Ok, I feel rested again, so here's the full version including the words I left out due to exhaustion:

If you get pushed around by AmEx anymore, I think that we Creditnetters can band together as a group and read the AmEx Terms of Service closely because if we put our minds together we'll surely succeed!

    Good luck, George!

    GEORGE,

They should be able to product transfer you over to Delta no problem. Just call the number on the back of your card and select the option to close your account. Tell them that you'll remain a customer if they transfer you to Delta Gold or Platinum or whatever it is you want.

I'm still trying to switch my Optima Platinum to Blue but AMEX is NOT trying to hear me (meaning, "Thanks for calling Ms. MP but no can do").
