Re: Amex Threatened Me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, because they consider it to be a free cash advance. But the card issuer who should really be "mad" is the one that agreed to send the BT check to AmEx. Generations Bank also is very picky about this. They now require you to do a BT only on an account balance that is listed on the most recent credit report.
Re: Amex Threatened Me!!!!!!!!!!!!! GEORGE, Call the number on the back of the card. SELECT THE OPTION TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT. That will get you to someone with the power to trade your card for Delta. Tell them that you are not happy with Blue. They will do everything possible to keep you as a customer. They will offer you just about everything from the Optima line (Starwood, Gold, Delta, etc.) to keep you. That is what happend when I traded my Delta Gold. They offered me Everything uder the sun except Blue and Optima Platinum. They even offered Cash Back card. I stated that I liked the regular Optima card but wanted the Optima Plantinum for the benefits. He gave in and said ok. But then tried to bamboozle me and set me up with the regular Optima. I got the confirmation letter and it said "OPTIMA" with no Platinum after it and I called to verify that it was Platinum and it WASN'T! They fixed that real quick and sent out another confirmation letter.
Re: Amex Threatened Me!!!!!!!!!!!!! why would you want delta gold? the only difference in features between classic and gold is a year end summary and 10000 bonus miles. try to get the first year free than switch to the classic card. there are a few other things like free shipping and gold card events but those are basically useless anyway and the double miles are on all cards but the options card. sorry i'm bitter but i work for them and i feel awful trying to convince elderly women they need that thing

Re: Amex Threatened Me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, let's look at it from all angles. George is a VERY VERY shrewd consumer. He's working a chunk of debt at or around 0%... "free money" ... more power to 'ya. Amex isn't making any money off of George - he doesn't use his card (no merchant fees) nor does he like to revolve balances @ 9.9 (no interest). Nothing against George - lots of consumers are getting shrewd like him - but if we are able to willy-nilly xfer balanced and threaten to close accounts at the drop of a hat, it's a 2-way street - the CC companies can drop consumers (lowering limits, raising rates, etc). Kind of like right to work laws - yes you can quit any time, for any reason ... but you can also be fired at any time, for any reason. -mj

I E-MAILED them telling them I was CONFUSED...they said I had to transfer some, most, or ALL my BLUE credit limit to get the DELTA GOLD card when I applied, to get the card...(TWICE IN 3 or 4 DAYS)...2 inquires. IF I get an answer...OR NOT to my E-MAIL, I will use the CLOSE CARD DEAL...

I wouldnt close BLUE....I dont see why they havnt Increased your CL.....If you havnt gave up, i would keep calling and demanding increase of CL and BT offers.....they should give in...this is what i have done......They keep offering me BT offers and increasing my CL and I do have a HIGH 70% utilization right now on all cards...I have a BT of 9k at 0.00% for six months..they gave me this promo rate since the 10.99% product change to 9.99%....you should have gotten this also when they FINALLY lowered you to the lower 9.99% product..... if you go w/the DELTA GOLD , i think i may try also..BUT w/ NO HARD!!!....
