I tried for the AMEX today and I was given some incite to getting the AMEX green. I did not get it but I was given some light as to getting approval. I spoke with a supervisor and she told me that because I have one derog that was less than 1 year old, she could not approve me. I thought this one item was being removed, but I was lied to by EQ. It came back verified yesterday. So now I have to get this item off my report and dispute it again. I usually have to go two rounds with EQ. So I may have AMEX in next couple of months. She told me as long as the balance ratios are around 50%, no lates under a year and established tradeline for more than a year and no more than 3 inquiries in the last 6 months. Its all about the last six months ! But for those who were thinking AMEX is a little beyond their reach, it is not impossible and you may just get it. I will have to wait it out another month or so for EQ. Cypri

I recently applied to the blue amex card. I already have their gold card since 1998. I was denied. I spoke to a supervisor and she told me the reason I could not be approved is because my balances are to high. If I can get it under 40% she said I would have had a better chance of getting approved.
Wowee! Cypri! yeah, AmEx is not impossible!! Hope you get this derog off your report soon, an AmEx card is waiting for you
