I know they will transfer the "UN-USED" CREDIT LIMITS TO ANOTHER CARD YOU HAVE...but what about with a BALANCE (existing charges at the same rate and terms)...

I'm NOT sure I want the AMEX HILTON ($15,700)...because the AMEX STARWOOD is at such a lower limit ($3,000)

    STARWOOD HAS 1.25/$1.00 MILES TRANSFER TO DELTA (20,000 X 1.25 = 25,000)---$30.00 SECOND YEAR

Both are at 2.90% BT...but they are MAXED less $100 which I had to BT to them because YOU CAN'T MAKE A PAYMENT ON-LINE TILL THE STATEMENT DATE!!!

It won't make much difference to me having 4 or 3 AMEX accounts...I GUESS

STARWOOD AT $18,700 WOULD BE FINE...

    George,

With AmEx you can transfer limits between the accounts only if they are paid off.

Even with STARWOOD and HILTON being SIMULAR PRODUCTS...and both with a 2.90% BT???

If that is TRUE...I would have to wait 6 months...(ASK FOR A CLI)...then COMBINE AND CLOSE...

You can't transfer balances from one to another AmEx account. No one allows that.

    Why 6 months waiting ???

Pay it off now and then when your next statement shows $0 balance transfer limit to another product.

You can combine the limits without waiting 6 months...They don't consider that operation as credit line increase...

I mean...you won't be stuck if you do it later...you can combine limits at anytime...

    I'LL THINK ABOUT IT...

They probably would "HOLD" the $16,500 payment for a couple weeks like MBNA did with my <CREDIT BALANCE>

Once the FIRST STATEMENT GENERATES...I can make payments any time I want...(ONE PER DAY)

I "THINK" I DECIDED WHAT TO DO...

Wait 6 months and make RATHER LARGE PAYMENTS DOWN TO $0 ON BOTH ACCOUNTS...I will leave HILTON AT $5,000 CL and transfer what is left of the credit limit to STARWOOD...KEEPING BOTH

ASKING FOR A CLI ON EACH FIRST AT 6 MONTHS (I GUESS)

    That sounds like a plan!!

Closing one of the accounts could lower your score (I know, UYGF, so who knows) and this way you keep all accounts and history.

George I have been told by Amex that you can only get 1 increase per 6 months......period. If you get one on Hilton, you'd have to wait another 6 months before getting one on Starwood.

BTW, I just got my new Starwood in the mail on Thursday.
