Will not let me pay a portion or even all chap 7 debt from them. They said its protected by federal law. So basically I can never be approved for an Amex card. Also can not be added on to account(is this true) or as corp. card/

Amex is kind of strange at times.

My company manged to default on a Corp card on which I was a supplemental cardholder. Their collector called me and threatened me personally. I think I scared them off as they never sent me anything I requested and haven't called back.

No more than a week later Amex sent me a pre-approved letter. Mostly to see if I'd get it I went ahead and applied. Approved, no problems.

Others here have described Amex as having a very long and vengeful memory. My most recent experience is that a my company's default has not affected me personally even though I was a supplemental cardholder.

Did Amex pull a hard inquiry?

Congrats! you're one of the lucky few. Many of us are blacklisted, such as myself. I filed bankruptcy in 1993 which included an Amex.

I was approved for Amex Green and had a chargeoff in 1990. I had thought I was paid but the membership fees and lates on them was added again and I never got this mail because I had moved, so when I applied for blue, I was denied, but can keep the Amex green.

I tried to add my father to my AmEx Blue (AU), but found at that he was blacklisted...I think he had a charge off 7 years ago, but they do have a long memory.

You're talking to the wrong somebody at Amex. Any creditor you've discharged in BK should slaver to have you reaffirm the old debt. Time to start talking your way up their chain of command if you're not getting the answers you want.

    But be forewarned that:

    1) I don't think there's any such animal as a partial reaffirmation.

    2) Even if there is, Amex will want every last dime if they're being asked to take you off their blacklist.

    3) Amex is said to make people who pay off their old debts wait a year to get a new card.

    4) I doubt any of that would work if Amex had a whiff of fraud when your old problems were rearing their ugly heads.

So how badly do you want to get back in Amex's good graces?

there was no fraud. i was 19 when i had the card, filed at 20.

So there no way they would let me pay a partial amount to get a credit card again>

i think per my question the other day that if your corp utilizes amex, you can get a corp amex card. at least i am hoping that is true as the co. i am working for just switched to amex and i have a ch7 and it included amex in debtor list.

just got the rejection after company sent in request for a corporate card for me. Reason is the bk filed in the past 5 yrs which included Amex. Looks to me like they keep a list.
I'll have to find a visa or mc that will approve me so I can use it to buy airline tickets etc.
