I made a dispute with Equifax regarding an American Express account that was included in a BK in 1990 but is listed as a charge off in 1996. American Express verified the incorrect information with Equifax. I called American Express this evening and a customer service rep told me it was listed as being included in a BK in 1990 in her computer. She gave me a "credit bureau" depatment number to call in the morning to get this corrected. My question is what should I say to them about the validation of incorrect information... Is ther a penalty for them to verify incorrect info? Thanks!
Only if they deliberately continue to do this. AmEx will usually do what is right, but they don't ever forget that you didn't pay them.
