My wife and my american express gold and delta cards have been blocked..."a random financial review" they said..they want us to submit 3 months of bank statements, 3 paystubs, last years tax returns and w2's to unblock the account. Why would they do this? We have paid faithfully for 2 years!!

    they getting scared. lol.

Kinda why i lock in the "FOR LIFE" Bt's on my amex now, cause they get skittish if you push too many balances on them.

then again i have 5 accounts. I had one get "locked" down because my bank changed their routing # and didn't honor EFT (only CHECK) payments. two bounced. took 6 months to get that card str8. I haven't used it since but did get a $2000 increase.

this company makes no sense imo.

I closed an Amex back in 1984 because of their crazy way of doing business. I went to the World's Fair in Knoxville and had bought a few things. I went in a store to buy a T-shirt and they made the store call in. They asked all kinds of questions, not just the security questions to make sure it was me or ask the merchant to check my ID. It was pretty embarrassing--over a lousy $10 T-shirt. I hadn't charged that much, not even close to what I often charged in a month. When I got home and called them to complain and discuss it, they basically said "if you don't like the way we do business, tough."

This was way before my divorce and credit troubles. We made good money, paid bills on time, and I felt we didn't have to be treated like criminals. Besides, we were paying for the privilege!! A lot of cards were free back then. So I gave them the boot.

Looks like they still have similar tactics!!

I had a AMEX personal card as well. Before leaving for a vacation to Acapulco, Mexico I went to American Travelers' ( travel) agency & got $600 cash advance. I still had 3K under the credit limit and never was late on payments.
During the Acapulco trip, my husband & I were running out of cash for tips, taxi, incidentals and hadn't used the AMEX at all......UNTIL we decided to one day go to a American Express office to get some more cash. LOW & BEHOLD, they were declining us because they had blocked or reduced the credit limit to exactly the 3K that was left.
Her excuse was, " we sent you a letter yesterday" informing you. Really no excuse was ever given.
I pleaded with them that we weren't going home if we had no cash ( no taxi money) today!!!!
So they allowed ( extended) $300.00 cash advance to us. When we got home, I wrote a letter & explanation or else I would cancel. They didn't respond -- so I cancelled !
