Does anyone know of a phone number I could call or an address I could write to to dispute a credit denial? I would like to plead my case if I can and would prefer to do it by mail so I can have documentation. Also, does anyone know if this would be futile or does AMEX sometimes decide on a case-by-case basis if you make enough noise? Thanks.

Not sure what others' experiences are, but I think AMEX is pretty strict depending on the card you're trying to get. My experience with blue is that, you can't convince them.

When I first applied for blue, I had a score of 708, but only 2 open credit card accounts with low limits. I was denied, and they refused to change the decision.

The next time I applied, I was armed with a score of 723, 5 credit card accounts 3 were platinum cards with good limits, no derogs and only one inquiry on my report. They said the computer (online app) automatically declined me (for some reason), but it was forwarded to some department automatically, and this supervisor lady approved it.

They refused to tell me why it was initially declined.

I convinced them to remove a paid derog from all three of my credit reports about two years ago (after they initially said they wouldn't budge) so I thought, why not try with this too?
