I haven't applied for a credit card in about a year now. So, I have one credit inquiry from target on 11/01 and a mortgage inquiry on 4/02 and a recent eloan one on 9/02. Eloan only checked EX, and my ex CW score was 687 prior to the inquiry...then the bad boy went down to 679!!!!!!!!!!! Why so mean????
Does the score go down after the inquiry or during?

Inquiries have a greater impact on the score of consumers with limited to moderate credit histories compared to consumers with extensive credit histories.

Yeah, but queen, I have good credit and I usually take a 6 point hit.

I had 0 inquiries. Then I had 2 - no impact. The 3rd got me for 7pts and the 4th 0. Go figure. Score in the 700's

My credit is not so good. Inquires hit me for 3 points a piece (4 of them). Then through the EQ bumpage, they started coming off. The first bumpage got me 5 points. The next 2 NONE! Today, a new car loan went from "too new to rate" to "pays as agreed" and my points went DOWN 5 points. Go figure! RNG bit again.

Is your car loan from a finance company? From my understanding, FICO doesn't like loans from finance companies. They aren't good for your score. I can't wait until I can pay off both of my loans from finance cos.
