I got a statement from a creditor today with an annual fee listed on it. This card was closed by credit grantor. I still have a balance. Anyway, they said they can charge me the annual fee until balance is paid in full. Is this true? Would i have any luck sending planet feedback on this issue? I mean the card is closed and I can't use it. Why should ihave to pay annual fee??? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I mean it is only $18 but still....

I am not an expert here but that sounds like bs.
I dont think you should be charged an annual fee either on a closed account. I would send them a letter in the mail (or fax it) and I would also try PFB. What could it hurt right? Which credit card is it?

    Hello,

Orchard Bank had something similar done last year. They announced that they were changing policies before they made the changes so it gave me time to pay off the bill before the $99 annual fee. I think they have to notify you and give you the chance to respond/pay off your bill before they charge you for it.

I would investigate this and then fight.

The "ANNUAL FEE" is for the ACTIVE card...NOT A CLOSED CARD!!!
