against Direct Merchants Bank. I closed an account way back in April, and it keeps showing up on Equifax as open. My score is being affected by having too many open accounts. I called customer service today and was told that I have to write a letter to get it reported as closed. They can't do it by phone. I had already attempted to do this online and it didn't work. I highly suggest that if you are considering doing business with this company, you reconsider. They are jerks!!!!
I disputed my Cap One account online - EFX is reporting it as open, when it is closed. Just write it in the little box for additional comments, or go all the way to the end of the dispute process, and there is a thingy to email them if you couldn't communicate your problem using their online forms. Keep in mind, they love to delete this stuff.
