August 20, 2002 â?? Today TrueLink, a leading provider of consumer credit management tools, launches FreeCreditProfile, a new product to help consumers take better control of their credit. Accessible at FreeCreditProfile.com, the new service goes beyond the widely offered free credit report to provide consumers a Credit Score with tips for increasing their creditworthiness and a Debt & Income Analysis that examines personal borrowing power â?? for the first time enabling consumers to get all three items free online.

"Lenders evaluate a number of factors when considering a new applicant â?? including your credit report, credit score and your debt analysis," said Russell Schaub, CEO of TrueLink. In addition to the Credit Report, Credit Score and Borrowing Power Analysis, FreeCreditProfile offers consumers a 30-day free trial of Credit Monitoring. Weekly email alerts will notify subscribers to any potential signs of fraud, enabling rapid resolution of fraudulent claims and safeguarding against identity theft.

Re: Another Free Credit Report Webs

I just called them to find out which CRA they pull for their "free credit profile" -- it's Trans Union. I didn't ask whether it was a hard or soft inquiry or whether the score was genuine FICO.

They pull TU. It's the same report and fico score you get from TU's site for $12.50 May be worth it depending on how often you can order your report.

You get four free per year, hardly worth 80 bucks. The free trial is just so they can get your CC# and hope you forget about the yearly fee...

My booboo. Not a fico score. Taken from their site:

The TransUnion Credit Score is provided to help you better understand how lenders view your credit report. It is not an endorsement or a determination of your qualification for a loan. Lenders use credit scores to help determine whether or not you are a good candidate for a loan and what interest rate you will pay. However, each lender has specific underwriting standards, so you should not assume that you will receive the same evaluation from each lender. As part of the underwriting process, they will incorporate additional information you provide and may obtain references. In addition, even if you are approved, the terms and conditions of loans vary from lender to lender. The information used to determine your credit score comes from TransUnion, one of the major credit bureaus. Credit reports are a compilation of credit information that is reported to the bureaus by the various lending institutions with which you have accounts. The information contained in your report reflects the latest information provided. If you recently made a payment, opened a new account, or authorized an inquiry, it may not yet be reflected in the credit report you receive. Likewise, it will not be reflected in your credit score. Also, disputed items are not incorporated in the assessment of your credit score. Your credit score will change each time new information is captured in your record. TrueLink is not connected in any way with Fair, Isaac and Company; the credit score provided here is not a so-called FICO score. The credit scores of TransUnion may not be identical in every respect to any consumer credit scores produced by any other company.
