hey all. i've been viewing this board for quite some time trying to gather as much info as possible. this is the best board i have found, by far! basically my situation involves 3 collections, collected about 3 years ago. all have been paid off, and my credit report reflects it. i would like to remove the derogatory remarks that i've got. one collection is a utility, another progressive insurance, and another best buy. the best buy account has killed my credit. under that collection, it reflects the late payment history as 2 30-day, a 60-day, a 90-day, a 120-day, a 150-day, and a 180-day. and then it got charged off to a collection agency. i've also got a 30-day on my old circuit city account. i am still doing some reading as to what approach i want to take with each company. any input is much appreciated. i want to thank the board for all the info on here!
Welcome to the board. I've had collections but mine weren't $0 balances. So, I'm not sure what the best way to handle is. So, I'm just gonna keep throwing this to the pro's on the board, but keep reading..you'll get some good replies...lots of knowledge on this board. Best of luck!
Although I don't have specific experience with these companies, the fact that they are 3 years old and paid may work in your favor if you simply use the online dispute to the CRA's as "Not Mine". Some on this board use the "if at first you don't succeed, try try again" approach. Usually redisputing every 60 days.
thanks for the replies! i was kind of leaning toward the "goodwill" apporach given the balance amount and the length of time they were taken care of. is it possible to initially use the "goodwill" approach, and if that doesn't work, then use the "not mine" approach?
LOL...."Good Will" versus "Not Mine" Do you think you will have more luck relying on Compassion or Laziness? If you have the time...try both My 2cents
