    Hello everyone,
I am a newbie and just wanted to say I look forward to all your advice in these upcoming months. Wait, who am I kidding? This is going to be a long road, so let me rephrase by saying, I look forward to your advice in these upcoming years. I have been reading, reading and reading and originally I felt overwhelmed, but I think with the help of this forum, the FAQ'S and of course PsychDoc's Credit Repair Primer, I can do this. So first thing is first. I pulled my credit report and I am going to look it over. Using a general dispute letter, I plan on disputing any negatives with a paid or charge off balance. Then, once I read more about what letters to use for what, I will ask your advice. From what I understand when I send these dispute letters, I should send them certified mail return reciept, is that correct? Wow, I feel mentally exhaused already but I am committed to clearing up my credit once and for all.
    Thanks everyone,
    BellaMia

Welcome and good luck on your mission. This site has helped me a lot. Just don't be in a rush and expect things to happen overnight. It took time to ruin your credit so it will take time to fix it.

Thats correct about sending them CMRR (Certified Mail w/ Return Receipt) - this is to let them know you are serious, ensure it is received, and to put things into a timeframe for you as creditors have a limited time to investigate and respond.

My first advice would be to print off (or buy) a blank calendar and start marking off the dates you send letters and when they are received. This way you know when their 30 days are up and when YOU should follow-up with something.
