OK--I have been working with Lex Law Firm for the past 15 months. There have been a few "not-so-big-deal" things removed from mine & my husband's reports, but for the most part, we're no further ahead.

You all probably already know this, but the way they work is that the reports are sent to us, we forward the reports to Lex and then they send out a dispute. We have never seen copies of the disputes, but from what I understand, Lex signs the letters as if they are from us.

I have no problems taking this over myself (it will save me $70 a month!!), but what I'm afraid of is that it means I'll have to start all over again with my disputes. I've already invested 15 months and more money than I want to add up.

We REALLY need to lower our 7.5% mortgage, 12.75% auto loan and 19.9% auto loan. We don't want any cash out of anything--Just lower interest and lower monthly payments. As our credit reports stand, no one will help us (scores 510-520 or so which is worse than when we started!!)

So, my question is: "How do I wean myself from Lex Law Firm without losing any ground??"

    Cold turkey, baby! :)

I don't think there's an issue. When you get your next results back, just don't forward anything to Lexington and pick it up yourself from there.

First, call Lexington and let them know you're cancelling.

Then, ask your Client Advocate where the dispute cycle is. For which bureaus are there active disputes. You will receive (ideally) new reports as a result of those disputes. For any bureaus that there is no dispute in process, or where you don't get a response, you should order new reports.

Leaving Lexington will not set you back are force you to "start over." You can just pick up where they left off without losing a thing. However, if you don't stay right on top of your credit repair effort, you might experience it as a setback.

    Best of luck!
