Just got another post-bk prime card. Received a Bank One pre-approval in the mail (actually three in the same day, Signature, Disney, and Platinum). I filled out the form (online option) for the Signature card as it had the best offer. 15 months of 0% on BT's and new purchases. I was approved for 22k. This is my highest limit card now! Bk discharged 6 years ago. Still on two reports. Scores mid 730's (before this inq). So, post BK, I have earned: (closed accts, auto, mortgage not listed) Cap One (was 3 accts, combined last month) 10k Providian Platinum (sock drawer, I hate them) 10k Amx Green Amx Gold Amx Blue 20k Target Visa (converted from Target Guest) 2500 Patelco Visa 15k Lowes 3200 Discover Platinum 6200 Bank One Signature 22k Thanks CN'ers! Don't give up, BK is not the end of the world! Learn from your mistakes and feel better about yourself!
Thanks everyone! I guess I should also note that I definately learned from my bk experience, Although I have a few relatively high limits, I do not abuse my credit. I think long and hard before making major purchases. I also try to make myself go through a 'cooling off' period before making 'impulse' type purchases. Thanks again!
Add one more to the list. I have been getting a slew of "pre-approved" offers lately. I think it is because I re-registered to vote in a different location as I moved since the last election. I can't think of any other reason why. Anyway, I didn't really want another card but I got an offer from the "Royal Bank of Scotland" that I could not refuse. 0% on BT's and purchases for 13 months. I applied and got it. Another 22k (weird, two 22k's in a row). I am going to replace my Target Visa. I wanted to keep the Target Guest as I wanted two 'Store' cards to help my FICO but they made me switch. It is a low limit ($2500) and has a higher rate than my other cards. I might try for a gas card or "Sears" to replace the hole my Target Guest card left. Gotta keep those ratio's inline! Anyway- add another post-bk approval to the list.
Thanks Doc! It's been a long (and winding) road, but I think the worst is over now and I can 'try' to start beating the 'better credit addiction'. But, as I have still been pulling my reports almost every day now for 6 years, and from multiple sources, I doubt I will be quitting cold turkey. Good to 'see' you again. Shawn
