    Hey all,

Thanks to everyone for the advice so far, but I need to pick your brain again with another question. When I send the dispute letter to the CRA's, how long do they have to reply to me? Is it 30 days like it was with the validation letters to the CA's? And if they don't respond within the "allowed" amount of time, what's the next step after that? Thanks in advance!

They have thirty days to conduct a re-investigation if not premised off of a free report. If the challenges were made off of a free report, they have 45 days. If you contact them during the re-investigation period, they have 45 days.

Validation does not have to be provided by a debt collector in any certain timeframe. They don't have to provide it at all unless they wish to take additional efforts. You must however, request validation within 30 days from your receipt of their initial communication.
