On my equifax online report it lists nothing when I click on the "negative account history" section. It simply has a line saying "You have no negative account history on file", yet several of my accounts have negative history that is more than 24 months old and it shows up in the account detail section for the specific account. So, is their computer system just messed up or do they not count things older than 24 months against you?

I thought I had this figured out, but now I'm confused.

If i am intrepreting this right you are asking about negative accts vs negative history.

negative accts are listed like Collection accts and charge off accts they show up on your report under the negative sections..

but if you have a good acct say that just has some negative history such as late pays and negative info in the detail it doesn't necessarily make that acct a negative acct just has some derog info attached.

I hope this is what you meant.

    fun:

From what I've seen any negative information makes the entire trade line negative.

I had student loans which was incorrectly showing a 60 (or 90) days late [depending on which account], at the beginning of repayment because the student loan agency didn't process my letter requesting a deferment as a deferment, but as a request for a deferment form. They tried to say that because I didn't specifically say ver batem "I have no income." (dispite saying "I am not working for medical reasons.") since it didn't specifically state I had no income, they wouldn't process it as a deferment request. When I noticed the 10 trade lines as negative because of the 4+ year old 60-90 days late notices, I challenged the notation with them, had them pull up the microfishe of the letter, and they bumped the deferment back to cover the 60-90 days late period.

But the tradelines were still considered negative, until the student loan agency finally went in and specifically told the CRA to delete the comment that the account had ever been late. (Yes, even when the entire payment history was never late, the comment that the account had been late wasn't removed. So the account was showing as both having never been late, and having been late at the same time, depending on whether you were looking at the payment history, or the comment about the payment history.)
