Does being added as an authorized user help score much?. Would the primary owner of the card have to have perfect payment history also? Do I have to actually use the card or does it matter if it's just my hubbie that uses it. Will it still update on my file?

The way I understand it ... you don't have to use the card to be an AU. If the person who is named on the card adds you as an AU, then you get their TL -- no matter if you use the card or not.

(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that.)

Where being an AU will boost your score is if you get added onto a card with a lengthy history and no derogs. I don't think it would help much to get added onto a card that has some dings.

Look for a trusted family member who will add you to their oldest card with the highest limit that has never been late.

    peace,
