I am also new so please bear with me--- On my credit (FICO)report I have two credit card balances. These were both paid off in Sept. of '02. There were six credit cards paid off at the same time but only these two remain. 1. Do those that appear on my report hurt my score? 2. Do they stay on there for a certain length of time? 3. Are they on there because of some late payments? 4. With on time payments and no other negative items, how long does it take to get to the "700" club? I am at 624 right now. Thanks T.
Even if they're paid off, they should still show on your report. Positive items can remain for up to 10 years, negative items seven years. Are the accounts still open? If you closed them, they should say "closed by consumer." But if the accounts are gone altogether, it will hurt your scores. As for how long it takes to get to 700, that depends on a lot of things--the kinds of tradelines you have, balance to limit ratio (again, closing all your accounts can hurt your ratio), length of history, number of inquiries, and many other things can factor in to your score. If you use cards but pay them each month, the balance will still show on your report. Usually the balance as of the closing date is what is reported.

Re: Re: Another Question just take the donkey comments out of your sig already and add these to it......... I'm sure whoever complained to CCNsteve last time about your sig probably won't do it again......they have probably already lost their eye sight from the vivid colors in your current sig
Re: Re: Re: Another Question *1. The alleged donkey (which I don't agree with, BTW) wins when you toss YOUR signature, once about you, and dedicate it to him *2. I like your other signature better....the resume one.
