Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One Buck... There are MANY other posts where people have stated that both trade lines report. Someone even reported that they tried PFB to tell them that they were dupped by being told that they would improve their credit history by taking the offer, and they harmed it by adding the second tradeline. (If I remember correctly in their case, they didn't add the tradeline for the original account until AFTER they had taken them up on the offer.) Search for the "CAP offer" and you will find a whole lot of posts about this offer, and all of the ilk from Cap1 in the same vein.
Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One Thanks, I took some time and read through MANY of those posts. It is unbelievable to me what this company gets away with. It is nearly legalized loan sharking. I won't be applying for this "credit card offer" of theirs.
Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One Butch, it looks like Capitol One is the only one reporting. I assume you asked me that question to determine if I need to include NCO in my plan of attack, which I don't think I need to anymore.
Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One I'm still wondering if Cap 1 is allowed to continue to charge interest, fees and additional charges on a charged-off account. If it's charged-off, shouldn't those charges stop accrueing? I've read conflicting posts on this on C-Net. Does anybody know the answer?
Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One A lot of people believe the FCBA requires them to send monthly statements for any interest and fees they intend on being able to legally collect.
Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One It's a charged-off account. I don't receive monthly statements or bills or anything like that. NCO was on my case for awhile, now Capital One is working on me on their own. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's charged-off...why are they still tacking on interest and fees?
Re: Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One I think it's TILA, actually. Baker has been through hell on this issue. Seems Cap1 gets away with breaking these laws anyway. She even has complaints into the CC with no reply. (Comptroller of Currency) C1 is too big, and they don't care. .
Re: Re: Re: Re: Another Shady Deal From Capitol One Are you saying not to settle for deletion under any circumstances because it's past SOL in my state? Buck ><- <>- ><- <> Just trying to get a feel for why you would want to settle on an sol debt was all. My thinking is - I wonder if Cap 1 offers these deals because the amounts are so small, it's not worth going to court over and they believe the consumers aren't educated in credit and debt laws?
