I searched and found alot of info about the Target Guest Card here and decided to apply online this evening. I know getting the Visa is pretty hard, put I figured if it didn't go through, at least I would get the Guest card. I got the 7-10 day letter message and called Target. They advised that it was declined for both, but couldn't tell me why, they said all they saw was codes. I advised that my address probably did not match my credit file as I just moved. They said to call back for a manual review after I get the letter. My question is, with the file info below, what is the likelihood that they would approve me for a Guest card after I verify my addy? Has this happened to anyone else, if so, what kind of timeframe? i work for target and i know that the guest card is easy to get but i also heard that they are phasing it out altogether and just going to be offering the visa. I think your problem would be that you had to many different inquires and with a judgement and collection it would make you have a tough time getting anything. Are your balances on your CC's up to the limit because that would make it harder as well as well as your overall credit lines. just my thoughts.
Thanks for the input. Here is what my EQ looks like. I know it needs alot of work, one step at a time. The concern about the address is because my file shows my PO box, none of my prev address match my current or last address. Also, it does not show my employer, just N/A, not sure if that is a big deal or not. Don't take any offense to this advice, but rather than seeking any new credit, I think you should do what's necessary to solve your present issues, such as the collections. Those can kill your credit score. Seeking more credit in your case is like a drug addict being admitted to the hospital from overdosing and instead of going through rehab, goes out and tries to procure more drugs.
Re: Another Target Guest Question.. Godsaveme: So do you think they will get rid of the Guest cards altogether, or just stop offering new ones? I'd rather keep the Guest card and not get converted to Visa.
Re: Another Target Guest Question.. Its funny you should ask that I posed the same question to my VP of operations yesterday and they just decided that they will keep the guest cards because some people just dont want another visa. I think its a great idea actually and love mine. They also have started calling the visa a "Red Card" now so if your ever asked that is the same as a visa card. Also, Kmart just started offering a new card through household i believe kinda interesting I thought.
Re: Another Target Guest Question.. Are they still converting guest cards into Visa's? I applied for me and my DH. I was denied, but he has not heard anything. Of course they will not tell me anything. Should the conversion be complete by X-Mas?
