Any experience with a creditor giving YOU the cold shoulder?

I've down to just one creditor that I need to settle with and I have some money to do it. But they are totally unresponsive. Over the past year or so I've sent them a handful of written settlement offers and spoken to them on the phone about once a month when they call (I know, probably wasn't the best strategy but what's done is done). They've always just ignored my offers but then they'd call me about once a month to check in.

I really want to settle with them and get them out of my life but they are ignoring ME. The last time I spoke with them was about two months ago. They were still insisting on 80% of the outstanding balance. They basically said they were moving forward with their lawsuit and they would be going for a judgment the last week of January. I haven't been served with anything or even mailed anything. And there's no judgment on my credit reports. I sent them a pay for deletion letter with a 35% offer. They just ignored it, as usual.

So, I'm done reaching out to them but I just wondered if anybody else has had a similar experience. I'd like to settle with them and get on with my life but they don't seem interested in that at all. How light might I expect to wait around until next contact?

It sounds like neither one of you is "hearing" the other.

They want to settle for 80% or more. You want to settle for 35% or less.

You get their 80% offer and say "That's not what I'm looking for and respond with 35%." When they get your 35% letter they say, "That's not what we're looking for. Toss it."

    And there you are.

One of you needs to budge a bit more and it probably won't be them.

    Good luck with your negotiation.
