Has anyone had any luck getting amex or discover card unpaid charge offs sent to collections removed? SOL to collect is up but 1 more year to go before they drop off. Anyone who has sucess stories would be greatly appreciated.
If all else fails, 6 months from now call the CRA's and start disputing as 'Not mine'. If that doesn't work tell them your 7 years are up and you want it deleted (even though, technically, you have 6 more months) they should delete it.
I have already disputed w/cra's as not mine and they always come back verfied. I was looking for an alternative stradegy like nutcase or OC validation that worked. But thanks for the tip, I just don't want to wait for them to fall off.
They come back verified because the information is accurate. Accurate negative information stays on your report for 7 years. If it comes off before then due to your dilligence and letter writing - then you got lucky.
Re: any luck In a way, I agree with Diva. I think that chargeoffs/collections with about six months to go don't get defended with nearly as much tenacity by the CRA's. I just had three collections drop off of Experian, two as scheduled but one with 6 months to go. I think a human at Experian decided enough was enough and loosened up a bit just to simplify things. However, I'd been quite unhappy with Experian up to that point...
Re: Re: any luck *Big grin* I'm happy it came off for u. The law worked for u just like it's designed to. I hope all the naysayers see your post. =)
