I have had a NextCard since the end of February of this year. Because I had a month of credit history, I was issued a "Lite" account with a credit limit of $700. Well, 6 months down the road here, I called to inquire about a credit limit increase, since I usually spend between $900-1500 a month on credit, and payback in full. They said that as of 8/15, my credit score was 694+, and that I would easily qualify for an increase. I was denied though: maximum credit limit for card type. What can I do?

If you carry balance Nextcard will love to increase your limit.I had Nextcard on Feb 2000 and got limit increase on July. They gave me a option either 1500 increase or 3000 (if I transfer 1000 more from other card).I usually have 1500 balance on my card and my APR is 10.99%.

David, I personally think that we are stuck with our "Lite Accts" for a while. I got the exact smae response you did, and my acct will be a year old next month. You also have a bigger limit than I do, ($300), and I also charge it up every month and pay in full. If you get any success in the future with them, please let us know, as I will do the same too.

    My Advise

Next Card seems to be very selective in there increases especially on Lite Accounts (Which I posted about a few weeks back).

I am thinking of closing off my clients accounts that have them and waiting 90 days and reapplying after that.

Next card seems to not even pull a C.B. Report before it denies you. "Don't confuse us with the facts are minds made up" mentality.

If you have another Visa then you may wish to do this and let us know what comes of it.

    Michael-

As you know, I cannot afford any more inquiries; I'm working up for Discover Platinum and AMEX at the beginning of the year!!

So closing NextCard and reapplying is a viable alternative.
