Qnce a ch 7 bk falls off after 10 years does that increase a fico score? If so how many points does it increase the fico score?
I doubt if you would get an increase in FICO, as the older the bankruptcy gets, the less effect it has on the FICO score. I guess the real gain is that your report can now pass various creditors' internal systems that automatically screen for bankruptcy. Just guessing here ... who knows for sure what FICO does?
I see the sense of lakpr's response. Without hijacking too much, though: I'm looking forward to the effect that all my BK7 creditors falling off in 1/04 will have despite the PR still hanging another 3 yrs. Or is my optimism misplaced ?
I successfully disputed 2 charge-offs with 30, 60, 90, and 120-day lates that idiot CAs did not include with my ch7 bk. My fico went up 33 pts! I still have 2 neg TLs correctly listed as included in bk and a bloody MBNA TL listed as a charge-off with 30, 60, 90, 120-day late payments that keeps coming back as verified!!! (This could be due to the fact that MBNA reports a DIFFERENT account number than the one that was listed on my ch7 bk papers! In this way, MBNA can keep a negative mark on the CR for the whole 7 years, and it makes it impossible to dispute because my paperwork shows a different acct # all together!) At any rate, all of these derog TLs will fall off early next year due to 7-year SOL expiring, but in the meantime, I have noticed a definite fico boost on the few that have fallen off. Wonder how fico will look when just the bk-7 is showing? I've read that as your info changes, fico will apply a different credit model to your report, thus the changes you made to achieve a higher score under a ch7 bk model may not be the best for a post ch7 bk (or "regular") acct with no neg. Anybody have an insight into this? MisterX
Re: Re: any points for ch 7 bk thats gone Honestly about 6 or 7 of my 19 BK7 creditors had either changed hands or account numbers or both ! However, I sent my Sched. F to all 3 CRAs (Note: I've seen those around here much longer than me advise against it) and even gave them a cross reference table which matched up the BK7 accounts with the accounts as they show today. That seemed to work across the board. The one stubborn one, Washington Mutual, bought my 2 Bank United L.O.C. accounts (by merger) back in 2/01. They then spawned a copy of each with different account numbers AND a copy of each with different account numbers and labeled them as REDEEMED REAL ESTATE FORECLOSURES ! LOL ! My 2 Bank United accounts now show correctly as "Included in Bankruptcy / Never Late". Wa Mu in the meantime (supposedly !) verified the 4 duplicate accounts. SO, I just got done sending CRRR letters to Wa Mu letting them know I know exactly what they've done and they'd better delete the accounts. I relish the thought of using what I can learn here to harass them and threaten to sue. BUT, suing isn't likely when most of this SHOULD all go away 1/04, that is, unless they make it difficult for me to get that vehicle loan this fall and then I'll really start having a case against them ! Hope nobody minds me ranting !
Greetings! When my Bk fell off this year, my score went up almost 30 points (620-649). I remember aroud the time my Bk was about to fall off I also would ask this group of there experiences. Many people told me of different experiences: no point difference, increasing various amounts, and even DROPPING a few points. Bottom line (I think): Who knows! I guess it depends on how Fair Isaac looks at your credit report as a whole (e.g. oldest account, # of inquiries over the last 12 months, # of late payments etc. etc. etc.) Regardless, I wish you the best. My EQ: Feb 03 (620), Mar 03 (649, aft Bk fell off), April 03 (657) Charles
