Aside from WK are there any other sites that give you an actual free pull on your credit file without making you sign up for an over priced not needed monitoring service. Or at least a place to pull a cr where they dont charge you for the goofy monitoring service and you can cancel without problem long before the billing period hits? thanks to anyone who can point in the right direction!

None that I know of, but the FCRA has exceptions to provide for free credit reports. I've told friends about these loopholes and they have gotten their reports for free. All you need to do is send off a letter to the credit bureaus asking for a free report under section 1, 2, or 3.

    (c) Free disclosure under certain other circumstances. Upon the request of the consumer, a consumer reporting agency shall make all disclosures pursuant to section 609 [§ 1681g] once during any 12-month period without charge to that consumer if the consumer certifies in writing that the consumer

    (1) is unemployed and intends to apply for employment in the 60-day period beginning on the date on which the certification is made;

    (2) is a recipient of public welfare assistance; or

    (3) has reason to believe that the file on the consumer at the agency contains inaccurate information due to fraud.

I was hearing this today on one of the CRAs automated systems. I thought cool! I finally reached a human and though he wasnt very helpful, was quick to delete one of my old addresses. start small i guess!

    go to transunion.com

act as though you are going to get thier cr but when they ask you why say that you have been denied credit in the past 60 days and put any store name in the information section. then you get a free report

don't do this more than once every 90 days

There's a way to pull EQs free for the time being (from something that was on the site recently), but I won't elaborate in case it's a no-no for me to mention it.

Both Experian and Equifax offer free 30-day trial periods for their credit monitoring service.

I have signed up for both and then canceled within the 30 days so that they wouldn't charge my CC.

Experian offers unlimited CR pulls through their service but the score they show you is not the one that lenders see.

Equifax will only let you pull 4 free CRs a year with their service (or within the free 30 days) but it is a FICO score. If you decide to keep the service & use your 4 free reports within the 30 days, you now have to pay $12.95 for each online report w/ a fico score.

Transunion offers something similar to the other two but not as good. I believe it's like $35 for 4 reports over a year? Why bother? I can pull my TU report with faco for free every week on their site.

I don't believe either of these services can be canceled online- you do have to make a phone call to cancel it.

Why not? I've done it multiple times in one week before.

Did you just want to tell the members you have a secret? Why even mention it?

If you get the Experian trial, you can cancel online, but it is a bit of a hunt to find where you can do that .
    -- go to my profile
-- find the link for subscription accounts
-- you will get a prompt for 'do you want to cancel?'

Its pretty easy to get out of the free trial ... but I'm not sure if you can get another free trial down the road 30 days or 60 days or anytime, really.

    peace,
    delilah

No problem...TU will let you view your report online for free if certain circumstances exist..

Being denied credit is one of them. TU asks the creditors name and the month/year of the denial. What a lot of people don't realize is they don't try to match what you're inputting to any actual inquries..Can't remember who it was but they used "Big Bird" as the creditor who denied them each time! hehe

Now, I use a real creditors name (Chase, Citibank, whatever) and then whatever the current month is as the month of denial.

I can't do this any more often than once a week- if I try to pull a report say 3 days after the last time, I just get a message saying my old report is still available for online viewing and to go to that one.

Doesn't that hurt your FICO? I mean specifying that you were denied credit?

I tried using that with TU. but have already bought a report from them with a credit card. when i go back to try to set up again under the idea to check the denied credit excuse I never get that far because i get a page that says I already have an account and they offer me another report using the credit card they have on file from the first time I pulled. any way around this?

I view my TU report every week also. I have never purchased one from them. I just request my report with the reason being denied credit. They give you a id number and password, but I always lose it. I think that if you use your password you can view and dispute as often as you want. I always just apply for a new report every 7 days. It does work.
