Here is my situation: I financed a car through Chrysler Financial back in 1995. It was a crappy car to say the least. APR 17.99, which was cool because my credit was terrible back then. In December of 2000 I traded it in for a Nissan Maxima. The loan was paid off. It should have read Paid/closed at consumers request.

I had numerous 30 day lates. I disputed it with Experian back last April. They updated the tradeline to Paid/60 days late. I wrote Chrysler a letter back in May concerning the inaccurate tradeline. I sent it certified return receipt. I did get the green card back months ago. I followed up with a phone call. The rep I spoke with told me they didn't have to respond to me, only to the credit bureau.

I haven't don't anything with yet because I want them to completly remove the tradeline from Experian and Equifax. It was removed from TU this summer as a result of my small claims law suit. If that happens I know my CE score will gain 40-50 and Equfax score might hit 700. My Equifax score is 680 right now. Since the loan is paid off, and closed it holds more weight than my open accounts.

I have read the FCRA and I can't find any violations to nail Chrysler. I would take them to small claims court, and settle for removal from Equifax and Experian.

Can anyone assist me with this? I know how to deal with collection agencies, but what about the orginal credit reporting inacurate information?

How is it currently being reported and how should it be reported? My only suggestion would be to go over the heads of the idiot reps and get to the legal office or the CEO's office or if they have a consumer advocate. You would probably get further that way. Others have probably dealt with this and give more than I can.

Yes, currently, it is reporting Paid/60 days late, and get this it was updated in April of 2001. It is inacurate. It paid this off in December of 1999, when I purchased my Nissan Maxima.

OK. what I would do is call to their legal dep't. and speak with someone there. If it doesn't help, you may have to send them an intent to sue letter. Quote the FCRA where it spells out they must report accurate info. You shouldn't have a problem if you can get to the right person - not some customer service rep.
