Anyone buy FICO points?

I bought a credit repair manual online last year. It had sample letters in it, and I found the material extremely useful. (Before I found CreditNet)

My points weren't raising nearly quick enough for me. I wanted to get at least 50 more points by the time my last credit report was run prior to closing on my new home (we built, took 8 months) in order to get a very low interest rate.

I emailed the guy I purchased the manual from and inquired about getting points within months. He let me know about a backdoor thing that some people have done. You purchase something, i.e. books, computer software.... from certain companies, and they report it to the CRA. Basically, if you want 50 points, you would pay $200.00 in books, or whatever they set you up with. You pay them for the points.
I declined. Kind of creeped me out when I found out they needed your social to report it quickly. He did inform me of the companies names. They were reputable companies that we have all heard of.

Anyone ever do this? I am trying to get a buddy of mine's credit cleaned for a quick mortgage, and need those points fast.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is...

FICO makes no sense to anyone but UnFair and Isaac. You could spend the $200 - but you can only hope it will raise your score any amount.

Ex - DH had a Bally's account from 1988-about 1992. It had never been reported. For some bizarre reason in 2/2003 they reported it for the first time ever as a paid never late account. Fine with me, added lots of age to DH's report.

    Score increase = 0
