They just showed up on my exp. CR for an item that I have had disputed off 2 times before. I've been doing a search on them and nothing is coming up. Any thoughts?
Sounds like a collection agency has violated the FDCPA by trying to make consumers think they are a credit bureau
It sure does sound that way doesn't it. When I first saw it on my CR, I had to do a double take. They are out of Evanston, IL. I can't find ANY information for them.
I checked it out for you. They are a CA/debt buyer out of Evanston, IL. Correct name is "The Bureaus, Inc." Have a couple of DBAs. including one that sounds like a medical CA. Incorporated in 1960. Address is 1717 Central St., Evanston, IL. 847-328-4300. Their domain name is thebureaus.com, but they don't appear to have a website. Here are a couple of links for you. Notice of pendancy of class action http://www.edcombs.com/CM/Notices/notices44.asp Their entry on the debt buyers association membership list - includes the corporate phone number and corporate email address of the pres. http://www.planetshop.cc/whoswho.phtml BBB report -- listed as "unsatisfactory record due to a pattern of unanswered complaints." Also additional dbas and phone numbers. http://www.chicago.bbb.org/common.h.../mis67/report.php&bureau=chic&compid=14010702 Let me know if you need anything specific.
You're welcome, but I just skimmed the surface. Let me know if you need anything more specific. I'm glad to help. (Research is one of my sort of job-related specialties. Scary what you can find out, for free, when you know where to look.)
I would love info on this CA. They are one of two CAs that currently hold my Citibank account...too weird...has anyone else dealt with them successfully??? Thanks in advance! Maureen
WKN, Since the Decode Generator has been down for a while, I wonder if you know how to get info or find out who MCYE is? I can't seem to find out who they are. Let me know if you can.
FYI I have a collection that reads The Bureau Inc and it is really Ann Arbor Credit Bureau Inc. So you may want to make sure that it is the one they mentioned.
Whew, this is a post from the past... Well, I do know that I sent them a dispute letter exactly 30 days ago today, and I'm sending my follow up letter. I don't know what their deal is exactly, but they are annoying the crap out of me. Looks like they bought up a bunch of Citi debt and are just posting info on people's credit report. I'll keep this thread alive somehow with updates of dealing with them.
