Just wondering because I recently got an offer from them, sounds pretty good. Wanted to know what report they pulled, and was it a bait and switch kind of deal (ie did they give what they promised). My deadline to reply is 2/15. Also do they verify income, residence, phone, etc? Thanks.

I tried it got a denial
They pulled Equifax on me my worst and now it's even more worse.

I think you have to have a fairly clean record.

Their reasons were a collections account and too many inquires etc.

My other half has Discover and thinks they are great.
I have Citibank and think they are great.

If they are reducing their cash back bonus I really do not want one.

I am going to stop adding cards (I am becoming an addict) and try for Amex Blue next.

I got a "pre-approved" offer, but they still denied me! Can't remember which report they pulled...

I went to the site and posted all who pulled my reports that is how I discovered Cap1 pulled all 3

I hope everyone is using the site www.millcbs.com
it sure helps in making a decision for me.

    Love,

If you're in Georgia in all likelyhood they will probably pull Equifax.

Just to help you make a decision I did my Discover pros and cons. I have had a card with them for almost two years.

    Pros
    o Good customer service
o Cash back bonus (hey, even getting some of your money back is better than nothing)
    o No annual fee
    o Grace period
o Once you reach a $5000 credit line they will upgrade you to their Platinum card.

    Cons
o Refuse to pull nothing short of a hard inquiry when you request a credit line increase
o Two cycle billing including new purchases
o Interest rate is a little higher for similar cards.
o Credit lines are not always the most competitive.

    Hope this helps.

    Dani,

What do you think about this? I only have one derog on EQ, a $133 medical collection from a car accident that should have been paid by the other person's insurance. Do you think they will consider me?

I got the pre Approved offer for the gold jus a few days ago, HOWEVER i got the same letter 2 months back for 0% bt and was declined. So this time when i got the same offer i applied online. They dont have the gold online so i applied for the platnium and got the need to wait 30 days routine. Called them up and they advised me to try in 2 weeks....

    Will see what happins...

    Love,

I got the same offer from Discover yesterday and I have to reply by Feb 15.The APR for purchases and balance transfer until August 2002 is 0%,afterwards prime+7.99 (12.99%).You have a choice to pick the American Flag Card or Discover Plat. Card. Discover didn't verify income, residence, phone.etc and all they check your credit. They pull credit report from Equifax. You can get cash back bonus from Discover.
I like my Discover card and I have five of them. Some of them converted from Novus card last year.

    Love,

How old is the derog? If it is 3+ years old I don't think you will have any problems. Discover is not as strict as some other cards.

It is not listed under the collections section even though that is what it is. However under the Prior Paying History title, it does note that its a collection account. Does not report a date opened, DLA is 2/2000, reported 12/2001.

    What do you think?

I don't know. Since it is a small amount and the rest of your report is clean it may not matter, but it's only a year old. I would probably try contacting Discover's New Accounts department and ask their requirements. My guess is that it wouldn't matter that much, but I don't want to say that and cost you an inquiry. All I have is Discover's customer service # which is (800) DISCOVER. They can give you the # to New Accounts if you're interested.

I called and the lady that I spoke to in New Accounts happen to also used to work in the Credit dept. She said collections will not hurt your chance as long as they are under 500 dollars.

    Very good news for me!

And even if you don't apply by 2/15...guess what? Another offer will follow shortly. I get them allthe time, but b/c I live in GA too and know they pull EQ, I won't go for it.
