Anyone have "The Platinum Card®" from Amex? This is the one that gets you into airport clubs and has all kinds of other benefits. What does it take to get the card? I'd just like to know if I'm wasting my time applying. Thanks, Kevin
I don't have this card, but I've heard that it is not hard to get if you already have a gold card in good standing. If you have any other Amex card, it shouldn't be that hard to get either, otherwise the minimum income required is 100K along with a good credit history. BTW they are raising the annual fee from $300 to $395 soon so if you plan to use the benefits a lot it may still be worth it.
I can spend $395...BUT WON'T... I would get the American Express® Rewards Plus Gold Card $150.00... I DON'T THINK THE DIFFERENCE IN CARDS IS WORTH THE EXTRA $245.00...(I could be wrong)
Gee...I wonder if they'd do a product transfer for me from their Optima Platinum to the Platinum Charge card??? HA! Probably not.....or maybe they would?? Humm....
It only gets you into Continental, Northwest, and Delta clubs - you also have to be flying on the airline whose club you want to use. It's the only benefit that got my attention - but I don't fly those airlines enough. Now ... to get the Black card with Gold Elite status on all of those airlines (and hotels) ... that's something else (and $2500!) -mj
